Who we are

The Chadron Public Library Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to the support of Chadron Public Library by providing funds for cultural events, scholarships, and various other activities and goals. Funds raised through the Foundation ensure the community, and surrounding areas, have sources of literature, technology, arts and music available to them. The Foundation is currently fundraising for the library's renovation and expansion.

Looking to the Future

The current Library building is becoming obsolete. In view of technology changes and the demands and needs of the community, the Library needs more space. The Chadron Public Library Foundation is preparing plans to expand the facility so that we can continue to serve the information needs of Chadron and surrounding communities.

The Plan

Phase 1: The "must-do's" of bringing the historic Carnegie Library up to modem accessibility standards:

  • Entrances, bathrooms, and elevator universally-accessible

  • New roof and insulation

  • North wall repaired

Phase 2: The "dream" of expanding the Library by 5000 sguare feet:

  • Community meeting space

  • Specialized rooms for computers and electronics

  • Quiet nooks for reading and research

What's needed from you:

  • Come see for yourself the Library's programs in action and its critical need for space

  • Make financial gifts to the Chadron Public Library Foundation

  • Vocal support for Library preservation and expansion
